Broken size run
A style that is still selling with one or more of its sizes out of stock, so the customers who need those sizes cannot buy it.
Formula
Size-run coverage = sizes in stock ÷ sizes in the run × 100
Worked example
A trainer runs from size 6 to 11, six sizes. Sizes 8 and 9 sell out. Its coverage is 4 ÷ 6 = 67%, but those two sizes sold more than any other two.
In fashion, footwear and sportswear
In footwear the middle sizes carry the range, so one gap costs more than the coverage figure says. Fabrik lists every line selling at least £500 in the period with part of its run gone.
Where it misleads
Coverage alone misleads: losing an XS is not losing an M. Weigh each gap by what that size usually sells, and check whether ads still send people to the style.
